 "West Virginia and Ohio"
POSTED BY MEGHAN AND PHOTOS BY HEATHER

We started off the day at the famed Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia where Dad spoke to the University's Thundering Herd football players during practice and even called some plays for the team. The drive to the campus was breathtaking and I played John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" on the bus stereo system as we made our way to Huntington.  Our next stop was at a cabinet factory in Jackson, Ohio where we went on a tour and Dad held a press conference.  This afternoon, we stopped by a local fire station where Dad chatted with the firemen on duty and brought them some pizza.  We spent the entire day traveling by bus, rather than by plane; it's my favorite way to experience the campaign trail because we're able to see so many local sights and meet people along the way.

On a much more serious note, we would like to give a "get well soon" shout out to our bus driver, Johnny, who recently underwent triple bypass surgery.  We want him to know that he's in all of our thoughts and prayers and we hope he makes a speedy recovery!

Song of the Day: "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver

We happened to see adorable school children walking down the street.

Dad takes the field at Marshall University.

He spoke with the team's captains and coaches.

We were able to see the team practicing up close and personal.

Check out the guy stretching with his microphone.

Dad had a blast calling a few plays during the practice.

He also addressed the team with some words of wisdom.

Meeting the players.

He was presented with an honorary jersey.

Frank watches the field.

Some families stopped to watch us leave in the bus.

Next stop: Ohio.

Now that's some "old school" equipment!

We found this sign funny only because of it's size and smiley face.

Eye protection required in the cabinet factory.

Always good advice.

The press conference setup.

Talking outside the Straight Talk Express.

Dad answering questions.

Country first.

I love traveling by bus.

Secretary Lehman told us stories about the Nixon era, including the time he met Elvis during his visit to the White House.

Next, we were off to the fire station.

Dad always loves these meet and greet events.

Sitting down in the station dining room for a break.

Saying a few words.

Time to eat!

Heading back to the bus.

The end of a long day.
