My Favorite Presidents

In honor of President’s Day, I’m answering Purlgrrl‘s topical question: Who is your favorite president, and why?

It goes without saying that this is a difficult question. I’d have to say it’s a tie between Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.

Abraham Lincoln because he was one of the greatest leaders of all time, and truly changed American history for the better. Ronald Reagan because he ushered in the Republican renaissance of the 1980s. My mother was pregnant with me at the 1984 Reagan convention, so he’s special to me in that way as well.

James Garfield and Will McKinley because they stood up for their people against the financial system and paid a great price. Lincoln comes in third; his key point was how he sort of utilized the financial system to smoothly operate through the war and had plans to roll back to something sustainable again, but never got to finish the job for obvious reasons. His quotes warning us about the dangers of central banking and financial systems in general are memorable. They should be carved in stone at every street corner. My first two picks are up there because too many have forgotten them. They too have paid the ultimate price for protecting their people.

Show me a President who's willing to put his life in danger in order to create change for the better today, and I'll show you a talking Octopus in a suit.

looking back i disagree reagan was not good in the long term for this country. i use to think he was great. in light of deregulation and what big business has done to this country . not!!!

1-George Washington: he set the example

2-Lincoln: saved to country from itself

3-Reagan: dared to stand for something and refused to stoop to the level of those attacking him

Reagan...Without a doubt. How can you not like a President with a pure sense of humor. A Man that gave not an inch to anyone. And loved his country with a passion.
