Jesus as a Political Platform?
Hey guys, some of you might have seen this video, but if you haven’t, it’s worth a watch:
My question for you is how much do your religious beliefs (or lack thereof) affect your political point of view?

<br><br> One example of my political stance and religion not lining up is abortion - my belief is that abortion isn't a good thing and people should be more conscious about their sexual decisions. But if I were in a leadership role, my stance would be pro-choice; I don't think it's my right to tell someone else they can't make decisions about their body. With that said I would probably still advocate for private organizations (who don't demonize) to educate and positively influence people on these types of decisions; but this is outside of law. ~ I am open to learn more about the topic though
<br><br> Gay rights & the Catholic Church closing down adoption centers: To me, the Catholic Church is making a decision that doesn't even follow biblical guidelines when they decide to close down their centers. I'm not one to take the bible as fundamentally literal, but in the bible, after loving God, the next greatest good is loving thy neighbor. (Matthew 22:35) "And the second is unto him, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." The second greatest good or law is NOT "marriage is between a man and a woman." This interpretation tells me the decision in Illinois/Massachusetts is incorrect. Loving God is NOT something that is forced away from the priests/church there; they can still love God first, AND they can still follow the second most important good or law, which is preserved in the State's decision (assuming you believe a foster center for children is "loving thy neighbor"). oy, that was a little off topic
Politicians govern the entire nation, not just the Christian part, or the Jewish part etc. The role of government is to establish a common set of values that form the foundation of the nation - not to take it to a micro level (as was done during the birth control/insurance debate). When the Federal Government get involved in the very small matters that are largely a personal concern - it strikes me as creating a distraction for the purpose of deceiving the body politic.
However, I belive in the separation of church and state. Each individual has a right to choose what their beliefs are.
For the most part I disagree with the notion of the removal of religous references to historical national songs, history books, money (American currency), the pledge of allegence etc.
I am all for learning about other religions and fostering further understanding of them.
I personally feel after reading an old Codexial bible <bibles containing now removed sections pre king james council of Ly ect wich i have found only cardinals or people in vatican city will openly discuss as part of church teachings very odd yes?> along with the preamble

"Insure domestic tranquility"... using religion or any reason to stomp on the rights of others violates this line
I personally do not believe religion has ANY place in politics whatsoever the entire point of seperation of church and state in the founding of our country didnt have a time lapse. on a pure logic and statistics point no one religion has a majority of the american public none of them have more then 25% of the population <this includes as the video states christian does not require pew visits 100%> so essentially the catholic church says "xyz isnt fair to us" im sorry if it sounds harsh but 25% isnt a majority anywhere :)

No where does it say "void if prohibited by law" nor does it says all men cept blacks,women,gays and nonbelievers?? in the course of the growth of this nation :) maybe i missed the reboot of our founding statements as a country hehehe
