"Highway 3, New Hampshire" As we plowed down US Highway #3 in northern New Hampshire, we happened upon my favorite stop so far: Emerson Outdoors, a mecca for the sportsman, a paradise if you will. At Emerson's, one will find taxidermy galore, plastic deer, and every sort of camo a man looking to hide could ever want or need. We had dinner with the traveling press at The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel located at 1000 Cold Spring Road, Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. (www.thebalsams.com) This hotel is the first spot in the nation where voters can exercise their constitutional rights and cast their ballots for their presidential candidates just before midnight on the day before the election. The independent nature of their voting style should come as no surprise, based upon description of a New Hampshirite conveyed to me by Manchester native, James Dunn: "We are educated, opinionated, and conservative. Not just governmentally, but morally as well. We are not partial to taxes either."

My little brother Jack is 21 years old and currently a junior at The U.S. Naval Academy. He is also something of a music buff, and wanted to create a playlist for the blog. Jack and I have few things in common; he has a mild obsession with Japanese food, I prefer Mexican. He is very mellow and I am constantly running over 100 miles an hour. He likes Dane Cook, I prefer Mitch Hedberg (but we both LOVE Jim Gaffigan). However, we can always find common ground with our taste in music and cars. Hope everyone enjoys a little more insight into my brother.

"Home Sweet Home - Phoenix" The girls and I are taking a few days off for me to be with my mom for her knee surgery tomorrow and to get some some dry cleaning done (the amount of clothes I've dropped off at the dry cleaner's is comical), visit friends, family, etc... One of the best things about being home is that I'm able to fulfill my Mexican food cravings. I grew up in Phoenix and Mexican food isn't just food, its an artform. My favorite place is "The Teepee", a local secret that all visitors must experience. My favorite dish is the cheese and onion enchiladas with beans and rice. Check it out: http://www.teepeemexicanfood.com/ On a personal note, I went on a pseudo-first date with an ardent Ron Paul supporter. I didn't know that before I agreed to get coffee with him and it was a little awkward... I didn't have the heart to tell him who my Dad was. Look for the Blogettes to be back on the trail in full force on Friday.
"Veterans Day" During this significant weekend, it is especially important that all of us stop and reflect on the sacrifices that have already been made by previous generations, and those that are now being made by members of our armed forces. We should all be thankful for the men and women who are bravely serving to defend our country and protect our freedom.
"New Hampshire" I love New Hampshire. In fact, I could move here. The towns are so beautiful, the country stores plentiful and the people are like family. That amazing energy quickly becomes a fuel for everyone involved in the campaign, including John. The enthusiasm that New Hampshire has for life and family values floods over into the support that is expressed for McCain. As we pass by on the bus, the horns honk with approval. Town Halls are overflowing with smiles, claps, and intelligent questions. They also get their children involved in the process of supporting a candidate that they believe in. There was a young girl there today that donates her weekly allowance to John's campaign. That is just plain amazing! In fact when Roberta, John's mom, found out about this she tried to reimburse her but the young girl wouldn't hear of it.

"Clarification" Because some in the media are misconstruing last night’s post, I want to be perfectly clear: I was quoting “The Stumper’s” blog in Newsweek that said if my dad becomes president, the White House would become “The Simple Life: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” which I took to mean that I would be the next Paris Hilton. When I wrote, “hasn’t the blonde bimbo thing run its course”, I was referring to Paris Hilton, not the President’s daughter, whom I respect and admire a great deal.

"Walnut Cheeks" I've never met "Salvatore the Intern" but I discovered his video on YouTube a long time ago and it's freaking hilarious (even though it's made me self-conscious of my own set of walnut cheeks). I'd love to ask him what kind of make-up he used to look so much like Dad... it's out of control.

Andrew Romano, who writes "The Stumper" blog for Newsweek (one of my old internship stomping grounds), has rated eight of the presidential candidates' daughters to determine the answer to the "utterly insignificant" question, "Who's the next Jenna Bush?" Although I disagree with being compared to "The Simple Life: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" (hasn’t the blonde bimbo thing run its course?), I do appreciate being described as "fun, feisty, and forthright". Andrew and I used to share a cubicle area on the 11th floor of the Newsweek building and he's the only guy I've ever known who can pull off white Vans in the workplace. Newsweek editors, please send a correspondent to cover my dad on the "Straight Talk Express". Anyway, I miss everyone. A big shout out to Newsweek's "Tip Sheet" section and to Ramin Setoodeh! Last night, we left Mason City and flew to Dubuque around eight p.m. When we got to the hotel, we were preparing to eat dinner in our room and stay in for the night when were informed that a former presidential candidate, Kansas Senator Sam Brownback, was set to endorse Dad. As a result, the entire campaign schedule for Wednesday was going to change. To celebrate, some friends from the campaign invited us to join them at a karaoke bar down the street and we decided to go, clad in our pajamas. In true karaoke fashion, I proceeded to butcher "New York, New York" and La-Toria and Heather gave their best attempt at "Celebrate". There's nothing like hanging out with my friends and waking up the next morning to watch my Dad be endorsed by a former presidential candidate and fellow Senator. Schedules on the campaign never really have a start or an end, especially on this campaign that feels a lot like the campaign version of National Lampoon's "Family Vacation".
