"Blogette Playlist
Volume 11"

POSTED BY MEGHAN

For this playlist, I've selected songs that make me happy, "Have a Nice Day" by Stereophonics; songs that make me want to drive through the desert with the top down, "So Have I for Your" by Nikka Costa; songs that make me wish I was at the beach, "The Electric Version" by The New Pornographers; and, finally, songs that make me wish I lived in another era, Benny Goodman's "Peckin' (From New Faces of 1937)". Also, in my next life, I'd like to come back as Nikka Costa, who's one of the coolest female artists... all of her songs are amazing.

P.S. Big shoutout to fellow Columbia grads "Vampire Weekend"

"Viva Las Vegas"

After campaigning around the country for the last nine months, we finally stopped in one of my all time favorite cities, Las Vegas! We flew from Denver to Las Vegas this morning where Dad held a finance event and media avail at "The Venetian Hotel".  I have to admit, I've been slightly disappointed by the lack of showgirls thus far.  Heather, Shannon, and I will be back on the trail Sunday and until then I'll be playing Texas Hold'em with an Elvis impersonator.

Song of the Day: "Viva Las Vegas" by Elvis (of course!)

We loved talking with John Moran while waiting to board the plane

The press gets focused on the plane

And then a lighter moment

Shannon has her coffee for the day

Dad was reading this book about western art and showed everyone his favorite paintings

Greg Wendt getting caught up on his reading

Liz Sidoti from the Associated Press interviews Dad

Checking out the western art book with Dad

Ready for the close-ups

Waiting to get off the plane

This is my view getting off the plane everyday

Check out Tim our advance guy - he's the only one who always wears a suit

Sheldon Adelson, the owner of "The Venetian" and his wife Miriam

Everyone wanted their picture taken with Sheldon

Here's the event - such a cool ballroom

No trip to Vegas is complete without a drive down "The Strip"

The Mirage is "Beatled" out

And last, we have The Forum Shops at Caesars

"Two Corners"

This morning we flew from San Francisco to Salt Lake City where the beautiful snow-capped mountains looked like the backdrop of an old movie set. We were met at the airport by Governor Romney and Governor Huntsman and drove to a finance event where both Dad and Governor Romney spoke about the election.  Governor Romney flew with us to Denver (check out the pics of Dad and him hamming it up on the plane) and he and Dad participated in a media avail when we landed.  For those who aren't familiar with presidential campaign jargon, "media gaggles" are spontaneous meetings with the press (back of the plane, back of the bus, in front of a diner etc.,) and a "media avail" is a planned media event where the press are normally sitting in chairs and the candidate has a podium. (I didn't know the difference until I started touring with Dad.)

Tomorrow, we head to LAS VEGAS!

Song of the Day: "Search and Destroy" by Iggy and the Stooges

The view of San Francisco from our hotel this morning

We had to be out of the hotel at 7:15 a.m. so I was tired on the plane

And the new kid, Mary from the Associated Press

Dad, Meg Whitman (President of eBay), and Governor Romney

I'm not sure my sunglasses could be any bigger

This guy had to borrow a tie to take a pic with Dad

The infamous "John McCain Photo Forms"

Everyone needs to fill out a form if they want their photo with Dad

Steve Schmitt's jacket rocks my world (It's a leather bomber campaign jacket from his travels with the Governator in '06)

The room for the event was colorful

These signs always make me happy!

Press, press, and more press!

Many of these events happen in airplane hangars

Such a cool shot
