Here's a new playlist of some of the songs shuffling on my iPod. Damian Marley and Nas's "Road to Zion" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Nelly Furtado's "Turn Off The Light" is absolutely incredible and showcases her amazing voice. I'm a big fan of most of "La Pop's" songs and LOVE Joss Stone's version of "Fell in Love with a Boy."

While the girls and I enjoy some time off, here's a quick update on the next couple of weeks. We're in the process of readying a Blogette store with some requested items and are taking advantage of our break from the trail to update our website and server. We've received a fantastic invitation from People Magazine to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner hosted by Craig Ferguson in Washington, D.C. on April 26th and look forward to blogging about this fun black-tie event. Until then, I'll be at home indulging in a few of my favorite guilty pleasures including, sleeping in my own bed; hanging out with Bridget; watching "The Three Stooges" (an obsession of mine since childhood); eating fish tacos; drinking strawberry margaritas; playing "Rock and Roll Jeopardy"; and taking in beautiful Arizona sunsets. P.S. I have also found a new guilty pleasure in MTV's "Rock The Cradle", reality show featuring kids of famous rock stars in a singing competition. I'm rooting for Jesse Snider (son of the great Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider). Everyone should check it out!

"Family Footsteps" Our latest video features some fun and reflective moments from my dad's biography tour where he visited locations that were a part of his early life experiences. Enjoy!

Earlier this week, Dad's biography tour stopped in Annapolis where he talked about his infamous years at the Naval Academy. I have been around the Naval Academy since I was a little girl (going to Army-Navy games) and recently visited my brother, Jack, who is a Midshipman, and some of his classmates. The Academy is an amazing place that clearly holds great significance for me and my family; I always feel nostalgic when I am there. On a more personal note, Heather, Shannon and I will be taking some time off the trail the next few weeks, returning at the end of the month. I want to thank the readers of this blog for always being so loyal and kind, it truly means the world to me.

On Tuesday, we started out at an event in Alexandria, Virginia. It's the home of Episcopal High School where Dad attended as a teenager. Much of the event focused on what a huge impact Dad's English teacher had on him. Dad really went into detail how that time of his life shaped the compassionate and forgiving man he is today. He even spoke about his often exaggerated temper in a very candid way. It was only day two of this tour, yet it's surreal to see so much of his personal history and experience on display. I know it's important for everyone to get to know him more personally through this journey. But I wonder how many people know the feeling of what it's like to share your father with the world. It's humbling and scary all at the same time. Later in the day, Mom, the girls, and I went to Ann Hand, an incredible jewelry boutique well known for their politically themed pieces. And don't worry guys, they have amazing silk ties too. The staff was enormously helpful and just made us feel like kids in a candy store. Be sure to look for the shot of the "flower" tie Mom almost bought for Dad! Song of the Day: "Around the World" by Daft Punk
On Monday, we were treated to an incredible tour of "Hope Village" in Meridian as a kick off to Dad's "Service to America" tour. Founded in June, 2000 by actress Sela Ward, Hope Village for Children exists to "lead each child to a place where hope is born." The kids who come to the village have been removed from their primary caregiver's home due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The village has cottage style living arrangements for children from the ages of birth to eighteen. In 2006 alone, they "provided over 10,000 nights of service to over 200 children." I have written before about being blessed and lucky. But nothing prepares you for coming face to face with the realities that too many of our nation's kids endure. And nothing will inspire you more than seeing the hard work of so many wonderful individuals actively making a difference for these children. Not just for today, but for the rest of their lives. What a wonderful way to begin my Dad's tour of the places that have made him the leader and father he is today. Song of the Day: "Sanctus" by Libera

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better than a campaign stop in Las Vegas, I was proved wrong. Today was definitely one of the most memorable stops on the campaign. We flew from Arizona to Mississippi where we went to the Meridian Naval base and attended a “Wings Over Meridian” air show by the Blue Angels. For those who aren’t familiar with them, they are the U.S. Navy and Marine Corp’s flight demonstration team and they showcase their incredible skills. They will dazzle you with their brilliance and skill and I highly recommend going to see them if they come to your town. Tonight we attended a casual BBQ at the home of Emmy-award winning actress Sela Ward and her husband Howard. It was a pleasure to meet such a lovely couple and to learn about “Hope Village Foundation”, a charity she started in 2001 to aid abused and neglected children in Meridian. We’re looking forward to touring “Hope Village” after Dad’s speech at Mississippi State University in the morning. It's the kick-off to his "Service to America", tour highlighting our family's lifetime of service to the nation. Song of the Day: "This Time" by Waylon Jennings
