As some of you may know, I have been registered as an Independent since I was 18 years old. However, after careful thought and consideration, I recently decided to change my political party affiliation. This morning, I went to the State Capitol Executive Building in Phoenix with Mom and re-registered as a Republican. I did this as a symbol of my commitment to my dad and to represent the faith I have in his ability to be an effective leader for our country and to grow and strengthen the Republican party when he is elected President of the United States. Happy Father's Day, Dad! Click on any photo to zoom and see the full photograph.

Today, Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing announced that I have been working on a children’s book about my father’s life. I'd like to share the press release below. It's been a very exciting opportunity and I think everyone will really enjoy the book. Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement! MEGHAN MCCAIN TO WRITE BIOGRAPHICAL PICTURE BOOK ABOUT HER FATHER, JOHN MCCAIN New York, NY June 11, 2008—Meghan McCain, daughter of Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain, has signed with Aladdin Books, an imprint with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, to write a children’s book about her father’s life. The yet-to-be-titled picture book will hit stores the first week of September 2008, to coincide with the Republican National Convention. Aladdin’s Editorial Director Mark McVeigh acquired the book through agent Flip Brophy at Sterling Lord Literistic. “I am truly excited about the opportunity to write a children’s book about my father, who is not only a fantastic dad, but also a great American. This book will offer children the unique opportunity to see the character building events that happened over his lifetime, experiences that led up to his current bid to become the future President of the United States,” said Meghan McCain. Meghan McCain was born and raised in Phoenix, and graduated from Columbia University in May 2007, where she majored in Art History. She interned at Newsweek magazine and Saturday Night Live. Her blog, McCain Blogette, has received media attention throughout 2007 and 2008, as it chronicles her experiences on the campaign trail in addition to her interests in fashion, music, and pop culture. “We are thrilled to be publishing this book. No matter what your individual politics may be, it’s universally acknowledged that Senator John McCain is a respected member of Congress and an important historical figure,” said Bethany Buck, Vice President and Publisher of Aladdin and Pulse. “Who better to write a children’s book about him than his daughter?” The publisher will donate a portion of its net proceeds from sales of this book to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is an organization that aids military personnel and veterans who have suffered severe traumatic brain injuries while serving our nation.

I freely admit that I have not always listened to country music. But, recently, with the help of some of my friends who are country music fanatics (especially my roommate from Columbia - thank you girl!) I have become an avid fan. Our recent trip to Nashville reignited my interest as well. Below are some of my favorite songs. I hope you enjoy this mix and continue to submit your country music suggestions!

We spent Friday at Florida's Everglades National Park with Governor Crist and discussing climate change. I thoroughly enjoyed touring the incredible subtropical wilderness and learning more about the Park's historic ecosystem. I have never been on an airboat before and it was so much fun! On Saturday, I flew home to Arizona to prepare for an upcoming trip with my mom. Song of the Day: "Barracuda" by Heart P.S. There were quite a few delays on my trip home from Florida. To pass the time, I read "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell. It is one of the most moving books I have ever read and is an important reminder how amazing our men and women serving in uniform truly are. I highly recommend it.
